Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Jay Jackson, who left this world on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 74, at his home in Derby, Kansas. Alan was born on December 29, 1949, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Donald Ralph and Jane Marie Fox Jackson.

Raised in Arkansas city, where he graduated from Arkansas City Kansas High School in 1967, Alan soon became a cherished member of several communities, moving through El Dorado, Salina, Enid, and back to Arkansas city before making Derby his home.

Alan's love for life was evident in his many passions. He cherished the time he spent on the golf course, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, and cheering for the K.U. Jayhawks. His soul found peace in fishing and the open road, often felt through the handlebars of a motorcycle. Professionally, Alan was dedicated to his career as an over-the-road truck driver, retiring from FedEx Freight with a legacy of hard work and determination.

He will be dearly missed by his sons, Don and Scotty Jackson; daughters, Crystal Matthews and Tina Grimes; and sister, Betty Jo Hochstatter, along with her husband, Ron, of Salina, KS. Alan's legacy is carried on by his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, brother Donny, and sister Libby Admire.

Family, friends, and those whose lives Alan touched are invited to honor his memory at a memorial service, which will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Affordable Cremation Plus in Wichita, KS.

Alan's warmth, resilience, and love for his family and friends will long be remembered by all who knew him.
