Alice Marilyn McCormick, age 95 years, resident of Arkansas City, Kansas, died May 16, 2026. Alice was born in Newton, Kansas on April 13, 1931. Her parents later moved the family to South-Central Kansas. She and her sister, Katheryn, graduated from Arkansas City High School in the late 1940's.  She then entered nursing school at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.  On June 23, 1951, she married Joseph Caffrey McCormick, a farmer from Mt. Hope.

Alice was a natural caretaker and was occasionally employed as a nurse, but for the most part was homemaker for her small family--herself, her husband, and son. When she was still a youth, she took an interest in Bible study and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1952. She was a serious Bible student. In 1963, while returning home from California to Kansas in a non-air-conditioned Volkswagen bug, she read the entire book, Babylon the Great Has Fallen--God's Kingdom Rules. This deep book of Bible prophesy had just been released at the Los Angeles International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. Since convenient, nearby conventions weren't scheduled then, she and her entire extended family had traveled from the Midwest to California to attend. Her husband, Joe, shared her volunteer spirit. They often moved to new towns in the Midwest and Southwest United States so they could assist small congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. Despite depression and anxiety in her life -- at a time when society had less tolerance for and more ignorance of these things than now--she participated as much as her health would permit in volunteer work as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 70 years.

Alice was preceded in death by: brother Richard French; father, Granville French; mother, Medah French; brother Phillip French; husband Joseph McCormick; brother Robert French, and sister Jesselyn Goostree.

She is survived by: son, Marc Joseph McCormick of Winfield, KS; sister Katheryn Simonson of Tulsa, OK; brother James French of Winfield, KS; nephews Nathan French and Eric Simonson, and nieces Janeth Eickhoff, Cherridah Pate, Camille Labella, Justine Afong, Shannon Konstantinidis, and brother-in-law. James McCormick, of Mt. Hope, KS.
