Obituary

Allen Ray Eichacker, 79, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on October 7, 2026. He was born on January 27, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Jerry and Winifred Eichacker, and moved with his family to Wichita as a young child.

Allen graduated from North High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He went on to spend most of his career with the City of Wichita, working in economic development, urban planning, property management, and the city manager’s office. He took real pride in serving his community and helping Wichita grow.

Above all, Allen was a devoted dad and grandfather. He was selfless to his core, always making sure the people around him were taken care of, and he took great joy in spoiling them. His quick, witty sense of humor could lighten any room. He loved to travel, watch sports, go to the movies, and keep up with politics and current events. He also had a soft spot for a good burger, a bowl of ice cream, and his dogs, especially his beloved Riley.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Swafford; his grandchildren, Jaiden Soupene (Shelby) and Ethan Brown; and his siblings, Gloria Seagraves, Nancy Hamilton, and Gary (Rebecca) Eichacker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Winifred Eichacker.

The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for the incredible care they gave Allen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
