Billie Wayne Moss, 76, longtime Hugoton, Kansas resident, died Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on September 18, 1949 in Liberal Kansas, the son of Harry Polk and Gertrude Wilmoth (Babe) Kiddoo Moss. The family moved often due to the nature of his dad's work. Bill said they were living in Mexico, Missouri before moving back to Hugoton when Bill was in third grade. He admired Mrs. Dorothy Taylor for her patience and perserverance in teaching him to read and write. He graduated from Hugoton High School.

While in high school Bill worked as a "grease monkey" for John Plank at a local gas station and later worked for his brother, Jim Moss, on Jim's farm. He decided to open his own business as a mechanic working primarily on Cat Motors. He was well-known and respected for his expertise with those motors. After he closed his business he went to work for Great Plains Gas Compressions, where he continued to do the same type of work.

In High School, Bill became a member of Demolay. His hobbies included fast cars and collecting pennies, which he has done since he was a young child.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lucille Schneider Moss, whom he married on March 3, 1990, of the home in Hugoton; along with his sister Lorene Bell and husband Jim of Moscow, Kansas, cousin Gordon Kiddoo and wife Diane of Plano, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded ion death by his parents along with his brother Jim and sister-in-law Jackie, and brother-in-law Bill Schneider.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 25 at the Hugoton United Methodist Church.
