Iva Carol Brooks, 81, longtime Wichita resident, died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on May 17, 1943, in Longton, Kansas, the daughter of Ivan T. and Lillian Agnes Belle McConnell Hoppes. Carol lived in Harper, Kansas for several years until moving to Wichita in the early 1960's.
She was a Charter member of the Chisholm Trail Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3251 Auxiliary in Wichita and served in many positions in the organization. She served as Kansas State Madam President in 2004 to 2005. She genuinely believed in the organization's motto, "People Helping People."
She worked for several companies in the Wichita area, including Beach Aircraft, and last worked at the Wichita Clinic before retiring.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert G. Hoppes and Dalbert 'Cork' Hoppes; sister, Norma Donovan; and fiancé Michael Alan Page, Sr.
She is survived by two nephews, Mark Hoppes, Mike Hoppes and a niece, Tammy Ratzlaff, all of Galva, KS. Many great-nieces and nephews, as well as other 'adopted' kids, nephews, nieces, grandkids, and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Chisholm Trail Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3251, 1855 South Sedgwick Street, in Wichita on Saturday, October 5th, at 11 AM followed by a light luncheon.
