Carol Jean (Garland) Gassert, age 68, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family and friends on March 31, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas. Born in Rock Island, Illinois on December 28, 1957, she moved to Wichita at age 6 and graduated from Goddard High School in 1976.

Carol enjoyed playing cards, reading and crafting. With an infectious laugh and warm heart, she would do everything she could to make those around her feel loved. She married her love, Fred Gassert, on September 30, 1977 and together they raised three children, Andrea Vincent (Tyson), Zann Gassert (Diana Bell) and Kerry Selby (Justin), and three wonderful grandchildren Taylor, Abby and Tucker Vincent. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Coil (Denver, CO), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Joy Garland, sister Ginger Kelley and brother Neal Garland.

Her family plans to invite those she touched to a celebration of her life in the coming months.
