Jun 13, 1958 — Jan 13, 2026
Catherine "Cathy" Marie Millen, 67, of Pratt, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, Kansas.
She was born on June 13, 1958 in Leoti, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert Maestas and Elvira (Chavez) Maestas Carrion. Cathy graduated from Wichita County High School in Leoti in 1976.
Bob and Cathy met in Liberal, Kansas. After a whirlwind courtship initiated by Cathy, they were married on August 29th, 1977 in Scott City, Kansas with Dean and Sharon Fouquet as their witnesses. They lived in Liberal and Garden City for several years before moving to Pratt in 1990.
Through the years, Cathy had many jobs. Her last job was working with her husband as a receptionist for Adams Electric in Pratt, until she was forced into early retirement due to her struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. She stayed busy, enjoying crocheting, baking, and her family. She was known for her homemade enchiladas, red velvet cake, and afghans, of which she gave away over 100 afghans in her lifetime.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt. She loved going to car shows and doing parades with her husband, Bob, in their AMC Pacer. She could most often be found buying yarn from a craft store or watching home improvement shows. Cathy could make a friend anywhere, bringing kindness and love to those around her.
Survivors include her husband Bob of Pratt; daughter Addison (Yahaida) Millen of Lee's Summit, Missouri; adopted daughter Meggin (Donnie) Wease of Gladstone, Missouri; daughter-in-law Jamie Millen, of Winfield, Kansas; grandchildren Ryker Lauritsen and Theo Millen of Winfield, Kansas; adopted grandchildren Rhaelyn Wease of Gladstone, Missouri and Jules and Ava Zimmerman of Hutchinson, Kansas; along with her brothers and sisters Evangelina Hatfield, Alice Palacios, Esther Rocha, Rosella Maestas, Barbara Mesa, and Ronnie Maestas who gave her many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Robert Carrion, her brothers Henry "Leo" Maestas and Virgil "Bernie" Maestas, grandson Kile Detwiler, and son Joseph "Joe" Millen who passed away on August 28, 2025.
