Charles (Chuck) Allen Short, 71, lifelong Wichita resident, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born on June 25, 1954 in Girard, Kansas, the son of Walter Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Bush) Short. Charles was raised in Wichita where he graduated from Wichita South High School.

He married Teresa (Sis) Lanette Hamilton on August 3, 1974 in Wichita.

In 1972 he went to work as a Draftsman for George C. Christopher & Son, Inc., later becoming a Project Manager before it closed in the late 1980s. He later became the President of Pinsker Steel between 1991 and 2004. For seven years prior to his retirement Charles was a Technician for Aero-Mach Labs, Inc.

A drafter by trade and a builder by heart, Chuck spent years in the steel industry honing a precision that he brought home to his workshop. He found great joy in the design process, often spent hunched over a CAD program or a hand-drawn blueprint mapping out his next project. From complex decks to simple home fixes, Chuck's work was defined by a rare combination of structural expertise and a neighborly helping hand.

Survivors include his wife Teresa of the home; daughters Brandie Lynn Thompson and her husband Michael of Wichita, Casie Marie Kelley of Mulvane; sisters Donna (Ken) Hibler and Debbie (Terry) Mottinger both of Oklahoma; along with four grandchildren Michaela Thompson, Samantha Thompson, Kristina (Jake) Beehler, Cassidy Kelley; and three great granddaughters Paisley Beehler, Autumn Beehler, and Natalie Beehler.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28th, 2026 at 10:00 A.M., at the Haysville United Methodist Church, 601 E. Grand Ave.
