Cindy Kay Hutchinson, 50, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on January 20, 2026. She was born on June 3, 1975, in Alma, Nebraska, to Rodney and Julia (Usherwood) Collins.

Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She carried a quiet strength and a nurturing spirit that shaped her family and all who knew her. Above all, Cindy was a daughter of the King, and her faith was woven into the way she loved, served, and cared for others. Her greatest joy in life was her girls, whom she loved deeply and fiercely.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Collins.

She is survived by her husband, David Hutchinson; her four daughters, Anna Ammons (Kazden), Abby Walcher (Connor), Alex Burford (Weston), and Andi Hutchinson; her father, Rodney Collins; her sister, Kimberly Breland; her nephew, Ethan Breland; one granddaughter, Eleanor Ammons; and twin granddaughters on the way.

Cindy and her husband, David, shared a love that was deep, joyful, and unwavering. They were best friends who always dreamed of building their life together on the farm, working side by side, and creating their ideal home. They were blessed to share 28 wonderful years together. They spent many days dreaming and planning their future, imagining where they would build their dream home and the life they would create together. They enjoyed 10 years together in their forever home on the farm. Their partnership and shared vision for the future were a central partof Cindy's happiness and life's work.

If you knew Cindy, you knew she loved the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved gardening and had a special eye for flowers—if she spotted blooms she loved along the side of the road, she was often prepared with a shovel and bucket, not just to pick the flowers, but sometimes to dig up the entire plant to bring home. If you found flowers missing from your flower beds, you may have fallen victim to her green thumb.

She also loved any opportunity to sew for her girls and was always ready to patch any clothing that needed fixing. Cindy loved her little hobby farm, too—she would often wake her girls up in the morning holding a baby duck tucked in her robe pocket. Cindy was known for always being prepared and caring for her family in thoughtful, practical ways. Her two favorite places to sit were by the fire—fully ablaze even if it meant the windows needed to be cracked open and the air conditioner turned on—and in her sunroom, surrounded by plants. She was often found with a cup of tea; if you ever came over, it was common to find a forgotten cup waiting in the microwave after a reheat.

Cindy was also consistently involved in singing and leading worship. We always joked she didn't know how to sing quietly—everyone knew when Cindy was in the house.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Reliance Community Church, 11910 W. Pawnee, Wichita, KS 67215, with a viewing one hour prior at 9:00 a.m. Internment to take place immediatley following at Clearwater Cemetery in Clearwater, Ks. A meal will be graciously provided by Relaince Community Church following the services. Those who do not attend the graveside portion of the services are welcome to remain at the church for the meal.
