Obituary

Cory Lee Hess, 53, of Goddard, Kansas died Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born on June 27, 1972 in Caldwell, Kansas where he was raised and attended high school.

After high school Cory began doing what he thoroughly enjoyed - being a mechanic. He would later become a diesel mechanic at U.P.T. in Wichita. Growing up in Caldwell, Cory and Tara were known to steal the corvette and camaro when mom and Lou were out of town,  but always got busted because of being in a small town where everyone knows everybody word travels fast. One time he shot a potato gun, it was so loud that someone called the cops and fire department because they thought a gas truck blew up.

Cory liked to tinker with things, he loved to drive trucks, especially his souped up S-10 pickup. You would often find him out riding his motorcycle and four wheelers as well as shooting guns. He also was known for jamming out to Metallica or any kind of hard rock music, playing a mean air guitar and or air drums to the song and if he was in his truck you couldn't even have a conversation because the music was always playing on the highest volume with the most bass.

In October 2004, Cory's life was changed after being in an ATV accident which left him paralyzed.

He was always good for a laugh even after his accident and did try to make the best of things. He loved being around his kids and grandkids and there was always some crazy thing that may happen with them all together.

Survivors include his three sons Coleton Hess, Dalton Hess and wife Avery all of Wichita, Ashton Hess and fiance' Brande Linnebary of Winfield; his mother and step-father Judy Krenek Roth and Louis of Goddard; his father and step-mother Larry Hess and Yvonne of Wichita; sister Tara Landwehr and husband Andy of Wichita; grandchildren Cruz Hess, Roman Hess, Holly Hess, and the soon to arrive Cory Joseph Hess; step-siblings Thomas Hord (Kaycee) of Deer Park, Texas, Nora Bieler (Brian) of Wichita, Lorinda Neff of Gardner, Kansas; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Cory's longtime friend and caregiver, Shaunee.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
