Curtis Reed Johnson, 88, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born June 22, 1936 to Charles and Mary (Hendrix) Johnson, in Great Bend, Kansas.  On August 3, 1957 he married Donna Jo Rogler of Wichita, Kansas, who he said "was the prize of my life". In the last years of Donna's life, Curt lovingly cared for her at home until she passed.

He is survived by his four children, Carla (Berry) Bortz,  Douglas Johnson, Denise Anthemides, Catrina (Paul) Loney; sixteen grandchildren, Brandon (Cari) Bortz, Amber (Mike) Chamberlain, Darnell Bortz, Alexis (Dakota) Fischer, Zakre Johnson, Zane Johnson, Ezekeil Johnson,  Alexander Anthemides, Isaac Anthemides, Stefan Anthemides, Elise (Andrew) Schoneweis, Adelle (Lee) McMahon, Olivia (Kenneth) Boyer, Eli (Sidney) Loney, Isabel Loney, Ingrid Loney; ten great grandchildren; sister Deanna (Ken) Halligan and two nieces Kendra (Hilary) Halligan and Dedra (Joesph) Martin.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Rae Johnson, his parents, son-in-law, Stephanos Anthemides, and his wife, Donna.

Curtis received a Zoology degree from the Wichita University where he played football and joined the ROTC.  He served in the Army Reserve while working for a couple pharmaceutical companies and was honorably discharged from the United States Army, on September 25, 1968, where he had obtained the rank of Captain Artillery. Then the family farm called him back in 1973. He cherished his time he spent working beside his son and grandsons. He was a lifelong learner on a broad range of subjects and told the family the internet came just in time so he had a digital library at his disposal when he retired.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
