Dana Gayle Jewell-Broughman, 65, passed away on February 22, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Ks. She was born on October 28, 1959 in Ulysses, Ks to Norman and MaeDell (Folley) Young.

Dana graduated from Scott City High School in 1977. In 1989 she went on to graduate from WSU with a bachelor's degree in health sciences and began her 35 year career as a physician assistant.  She spent her entire career doing what she loved, practicing rural emergency medicine. Dana spent her last years at Decatur County Hospital and Clinic. Dana always went above and beyond for her patients and wouldn't stop until she had found all the answers they needed.  Dana loved to travel and try new foods. She always said, "if it's not any good there's always McDonald's."  Some of her passions included playing poker in Vegas and shopping for shoes and clothes. Family was her largest passion. Dana and her wife Doris enjoyed life together for 32 years raising their kids and traveling.  Dana had numerous friends and never knew a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her father, Norman Young.

She is survived by her wife, Doris Broughman of the home, son, Daniel Broughman of Salina, daughters; Mandy Jahnke (Chad) of Wichita, Sarah Davis of Topeka, sister, Jana Robbins (Jeff) of Idaho, mother, MaeDell Young of Idaho, and five grandchildren; Shelby, Austin, Jasmine, Caleb, and Katelyn, one great grandchild with one on the way, and her golden retriever, Gracie.

A celebration of life will held at a later date.

The family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to Decatur County Hospital.
