Deana Jo VanDeest, 88, died Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at her home in Derby, Kansas.

She was born on August 8, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Lester and Lil Rhodes Jason. Deana was raised in Wichita and graduated from Wichita North High School.

She married John Edward VanDeest on September 1, 1956 in Wichita. They continued to live in Wichita until after John retired, when they moved to Eagle Rock, Missouri. Deana loved fishing every day at Table Rock Lake. They moved to Derby two years ago.

Through the years Deana enjoyed coaching softball.

Survivors include her husband John; daughter Lori Quinn both of Derby; sister Delores Lieurance of Wichita; granddaughter Johnnie Quinn and her husband Jason Bryant; and her great grandchildren who she loved to spend time with, Isaac Bryant, Katie Bryant, and Sawyer Bryant.

No services are currently planned.
