Dennis Allen Pauls, born July 28, 1950, passed away September 10, 2026 surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Flaming) Pauls his wife of 54 years, and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Dennis met Patricia Flaming while they were students at Oklahoma Bible Academy. Patricia was a freshman and Dennis was a senior. Their relationship continued after Dennis left for college, and on December 28, 1971, they were married. They began their married life in Longview, Texas, where Dennis continued his education at LeTourneau University. He graduated in 1973 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduation, Dennis and Pat moved to Garden City, Kansas, where Dennis began his engineering career with Butler Manufacturing. Their family began to grow, welcoming their daughter Michelle Suzanne followed by daughter Amanda Gail, and son Jeffrey Wayne.

Dennis had an entrepreneurial spirit and was never content simply to follow the conventional path. In 1984, he and his good friend Jerry Warkentin started Jerden Industries. Dennis designed the Strapjack, a low-profile oil pumping unit that addressed a practical problem in the oil fields by allowing irrigation equipment and sprinklers to pass over the unit rather than having to be routed around it.

Jerden Industries carried Dennis through many of the ups and downs of the oil industry. His willingness to take risks, solve problems, create new ideas, and build something of his own was a defining part of his character.

Eventually, Dennis moved his family to Wichita, Kansas, where he began working for MAMTC. He remained there for several years, but his entrepreneurial spirit continued to pull him toward creating something of his own. He eventually founded Daptech, a product innovation company that allowed him to continue doing what he had always enjoyed; developing ideas, solving problems, and turning concepts into something tangible.

While Dennis took great pride in his engineering and entrepreneurial accomplishments, his greatest source of pride was his family. He and Pat built their life together through more than five decades of marriage, raising three children and eventually watching their family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dennis was the proud father of Michelle Price and her husband, Everett; Amanda Raza and her husband, Ali; and Jeffrey Pauls and his wife, Melinda.

His family continued to grow through the generations. Michelle and Everett’s family included Chad. Chad and his wife, Katie, have children Tatum and Chad Jr. Amanda and Ali are the parents of Alexander, Aubrey, Asher, and Aria. Jeff and Melinda are the parents of Xander and Jordan.

Dennis’s Christian faith was an important part of his life. The faith instilled in him by his parents became his own deeply held belief. He believed people were created in God’s image, we all fall short, and through repentance, forgiveness, and faith in Jesus Christ, we can be reconciled to God. His faith was not simply a part of his upbringing; it was part of how he understood his life and his purpose.

Dennis was also a storyteller. He remembered the details of his life and had a gift for turning experiences into stories. Even near the end of his life, he began writing down his memories and reflecting on the people and experiences that shaped him. Those notes offer his family a glimpse into how he viewed his childhood, his parents, his faith, his work, and the life he was fortunate enough to build.

Dennis will be remembered for his faith, intelligence, determination, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, love of family, and his stories. He leaves behind a family who will continue to carry his stories, lessons, and legacy forward.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Pauls; his children, Michelle Price and husband Everett, Amanda Raza and husband Ali, and Jeffrey Pauls and wife Melinda; his grandchildren and extended family; his brother, Eugene Pauls; his sister, Vickie Kenton; and many friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Pauls and mother, Luella Pauls.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 14 at the Ridgepoint Church, 8000 West 21st Street, Wichita, Ks. 67205.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Ridgepoint Church in honor of Dennis Allen Pauls.
