Derek Floyd
Nonnamaker
Feb 10, 1962 — Oct 27, 2026
Derek Floyd “Dido” Nonnamaker was born on February 10, 1962 in Garden City, Kansas. He passed away on October 27, 2026 at the age of 64.
Derek was truly one of a kind, a man with a heart of gold, a brilliant mind, and a passion for life that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Beneath his tough exterior was a deeply caring man who would do anything for those he loved.
A master of his craft, Derek dedicated more than years to Harley-Davison before becoming a business owner and continuing his lifelong career as an exceptional motorcycle mechanic. His knowledge was so extraordinary that those who knew him often joked he had a Ph.D. in Harley. His passion extended beyond the shop to the racetrack, where he became a top racer, piloting what was known as the fastest Harley-Davidson in the world. Motorcycles weren’t just his profession; they were a part of his soul.
Above all, Derek treasured his family, especially his beloved Mum, whom he affectionately called his “Mummy.” He also shared a cherished bond with his niece, who looked to him as a father figure. Their relationship was filled with love, trust, and treasured motorcycle memories. In his final moments, Derek was surrounded by the love and comfort of his Mum and niece, who remained faithfully by his side.
Derek could fix just about anything, but his greatest legacy wasn’t found in the motorcycles he built or the races he won. It was in the lives he touched, the kindness he showed, and the love he leaves behind.
Derek is survived by his beloved mother, Pauline Elizabeth Baysinger, his niece, Bronwen Anderson; his great-niece and great-nephew, Chloe and Noah Anderson; his lifelong partner and cherished love, Shawn King; Shawn’s daughter, Brittany Rios, and her husband, Edgar Rios; their children Rome and Lucia Rioz; Shawn’s mother, Ann King, his nephew, Zachary Nonnamaker; and his sister, Bridget Nonnamaker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Aldean Nonnamaker, and his two brothers, Bron Nonnamaker and Glenn Nonnamaker.
No formal funeral or memorial service is planned. His family asks that he be remembered through cherished memories, love, and friendships he leaves behind.
