Dona Rose Martin, 88, of Goddard, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.

She was born on March 14, 1937 in Chanute, Kansas the daughter of Ernest Guy and Jennie Mae Sutton Franklin. The family moved to Wichita in November 1952 where Dona graduated from Wichita North High School and later attended Wichita State University.

She married Stuart Nelson Martin on February 1, 1957 in Wichita. The last several years they have lived in Goddard and were members of The Goddard Church. Stuart died on March 5, 2025.

She had been a Para-Professional in the Goddard School District for 10 years before retiring in 1987. For many years Stuart was a woodworker and made sculptures which Dona would sometimes paint.

Dona loved to do anything that involved crafts – making baskets, doing cross stitch, beaded jewelry, sewing, crocheting, and scrap booking.

Survivors include her two daughters Lisa (Brent) Lobile of Wichita and Janna Martin of Derby; six grandchildren Jessica (Anthony) Gordon, Jamie Swanson, Sutton (Katy) Martin, Bailey (Gerald) Wilson, Zane (Amy) Martin, and Nicholas Martin; along with 11 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Dona is preceded in death by her son Jeff Martin and two sisters Patricia Clark and Barbara Norton.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 21 at The Goddard Church, 300 N. Cedar, Goddard, Kansas.

Inurnment of both Dona and Stuart will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Beta Sigma Phi Wichita City Council and be sent to Beta Signma Phi Wichita City Scholarship fund 7301 E 35th Street N Wichita, Ks 67226. and Victory in the Valley 3755 E Douglas Ave Wichita, Ks 67218.

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
