Obituary

Douglas Allen Roach, 59, passed peacefully Thursday, February 5, 2026 at his home in Wichita, Kansas from pancreatic cancer surrounded by family.

He was born on February 24, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. Doug was raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri where he graduated from high school. He later received a Bachelor's Degree from both Washburn University and the University of Columbia.

He married Annette Ann Smutny on December 26, 1996 in Weston, Missouri. They lived in the Topeka area until moving to Wichita five years ago.

Doug retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service to his country. He had also worked as a Construction Engineer Level IV Tech for Terracon in Topeka and later was a social studies teacher for several years at Hayden Catholic High School in Topeka.

He was a member of the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita and the Knights of Columbus. Doug was also a life member of the Holton V.F.W. Post as well as the Son's of the American Revolution, Eagle Scouts, and Star Fleet Organization.

Survivors include his wife Annette of the home along with his children Elizabeth Hernandez and husband Luis Angel of Wichita, KS; Ashley Donahue and husband Corey of Mt. Holly, NC; Angela Rosenberg and husband Jeff of Olathe, KS; Adam Brewer and wife Kelly of Phoenix, AZ; Matthew Brewer and wife YiLiu of Rocky River, OH; and 10 grandchildren.

Doug is preceded in death by his father Dennis F. Roach and mother Loretta Day Lawson.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, February 8 at the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 9 also at the Church of the Magdalen.

Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery in Bel Aire, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Doug Roach Memorial Fund at Mid-American Credit Union.

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
