Edward Lyle Smith, 67, of Holcomb, Kansas, died Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Eddie was born on February 3, 1958 in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Altie "Bud" Francis and Matilda "Tilly" Helen Baker Smith. The family had lived in the Marienthal, Kansas area until moving to Garden City in 1973 where he graduated from high school.

Eddie married Susan King on March 20, 1991 St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. They lived in Holcomb. She died on July 29, 2015.

Through the years he had worked for the City of Lakin and was a bus driver for the Holcomb School District, along with being a "jack of all trades."

Survivors include his three children who were very important to him, Andrew Smith of Holcomb, Trista Smith of Gardner, Ks., and Abbigail Smith of Holcomb.

Eddie is also survived by his brothers and sisters Carl Smith of Springfield, Mo., Dale Smith of Oakley, Ks., Janice Russell, of Muskogee, Okla., Anita Routh of Garden City, Danny Smith of Deer Field, Ks., and Vernon Smith of Garden City.

Along with his wife, Susan, he is preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris; and brother Gary.
