Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) May Gamboa, 84, died on Monday, September 8, 2025 at her home in Wichita, two days before her 85th birthday.

She was born on September 10, 1940 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Calvin and Jean Marie Snyder Diggins. Elizabeth graduated from Duncan High School in Pennsylvania, received her Bachelor's Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania and later her Master's Degree in Divinity from  the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

Pastor Betty was ordained as a minister in the United Methodist Church in 1985. Through the years she served several churches in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, & Michigan

She married Stephen Gamboa on 26 April 1997 in Pennsylvania.

After she retired from pastoring in Flint, Michigan, in 2007, they moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near her daughter, Jennifer Dennis who passed away in 2019.

Betty and Stephen are currently members of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Wichita.

Survivors include her husband Stephen; son Jim Flippen and wife Teri Basil-Flippen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren Courtney Flippen, Beau Flippen, Micah Dennis, Meghan Fombutu, Guinevere Parker and husband Forlanda, and Anthony Dennis; great grandchildren Adalina Dennis, Anthony Dennis, Jr., Arabella Dennis Calvin Dennis-Parker, Faith Parker, Gracelynn Parker, Forlanda Parker, III, Timothy Dennis, Kalani Dennis, and Riley Dennis.

A Memorial Service will be held at Pleasant Valley UMC at 1600 W 27th St N, Wichita, KS 67204 on 27 September 2025 at 11:00 am.

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, KS.
