Eric Laufenberg, 44, passed away on May 29, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Eric was born September 9, 1980 in Kinsley, Kansas to James and Deborah Laufenberg. He went to public school in Kinsley and Junior High in Offerle. Graduating in Kinsley, Kansas as one of the top students in his Class of 1999. After graduating, he helped on the family dairy farm before he went to the University of Oklahoma (OU) for four and half years in Meteorology and received a Bachelor in Geo Science and minor in Mathematics with a G.P.A. of 3.6.

Eric loved OU Football games and activities that OU offered. Graduating from OU in 2003. He obtained his first job in Utah at a military base in Dugway Proving Grounds as a civilian for eight years. He monitored the weather there. He went on and moved to Lincoln, Illinois and worked at the National Weather Service known as NOAA for eight years and did DoorDash on the side. He loved helping people any way he could even if it was a smile on their faces.

Survivors include his father and mother, James and Deborah Laufenberg; sister Laurie Donovan and husband Kasey; niece Taylynn Donovan. Eric had many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he dearly loved.

Eric would like everyone to take care of their mental health.

Services will be held at another date.
