Florn "Leon"
Hoggard
d. Nov 2, 2025
Florn "Leon" Hoggard, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2025. Leon was born in Push, Arkansas to Marvin and Opal Hoggard.
He was an outdoors sportsman from his early youth, spending his time hunting squirrels and fishing. Leon married Catherine "Lanell" Wilson on February 16, 1956, and moved to Wichita, Kansas. Leon and Lanell were founding members of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where their growing family attended for more than 50 years.
Steve, Wayne and Jim learned to love the outdoors just like their dad as he taught them how to train dogs, hunt and fish as they grew up. Leon was a Production Supervisor at Boeing, retiring in 1991. Retirement gave Leon and Lanell the freedom to move back to Arkansas for a season where they were able to enjoy the company of their siblings, nieces and nephews. They also spent time in Oklahoma before moving back to Kansas, this time to Fall River. Lanell referred to him as the "Roadrunner" because he would take advantage of any opportunity to get out into the great outdoors fishing and hunting with his sons. They harvested deer every year, had great quail and pheasant hunts, and loved running coon dogs together.
The grandkids all share fond memories of hunting and fishing with Grandpa from their earliest years. Later in life, he enjoyed going to the woods with his son Steve, watching him cut timber, and enjoying the great outdoors where he could watch the turkey, deer and squirrels. Leon, the "Roadrunner", has made his final run in this life, but he also made the greatest run.
He is preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Opal Hoggard; wife, Catherine Hoggard; son, Jim Hoggard; grandson, Austin Hoggard; brother, Carlton Hoggard.
Survived by sons, Steve (Anna) Hoggard, Wayne Hoggard, and daughter-in-law, Jamie Hoggard; grandchildren, Jessica (JR) Salter, Jennie (Ralph) Fredrickson, James (Celeste) Hoggard, Tiffany (Jeremy) Blank, TJ Spann, Jesse Hoggard, Trenton Hoggard, Dustin Davis, Angela Davis, Melissa Davis and Dylan Hoggard, 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Turner and Pub Snyder.
Leon was buried at Charleston Cemetery in rural Fall River, Kansas.
