Francisca Velazquez, 76, of Wichita, died Monday, January 12, 2026 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on April 17, 1949 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Sabino and Isabel Martinez Mayen. Francisca moved to Chicago when she was 14 years old.

While living in Chicago, she worked on the packaging line for Fanny May Candy Factory for several years. Francisca had moved to Wichita 15 years ago.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita.

Survivors include her son Roberto Velazquez and his wife Paulanne Martin-Velazquez; daughters Monica Ortega and husband Moises, and Veronica Velazquez all of Wichita; brothers Juan Mayen and Sabino Mayen of Chicago, David Mayen of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Carmela Gomez of McAllen, Tx., Maria Mayen of San Antonio, Graciela Mayen of Chicago. Francisca loved taking care of her nine grandchildren Miguel, Anais, Juan, Moises, ThereseAnn, Sofia, Emiliano, Abigail, Marcos; and one great grandchild Ahlani

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, January 15 at Affordable Cremations Plus in Wichita, Kansas.
