Freddie Gene Townsend, 71, passed away on September 14, 2025 in Wichita, Ks. He was born on September 22, 1953 in Wichita Ks to Freddie Eugene and Wilma Jean (Weber) Townsend.  He is preceded in death by his father, Freddie E. Townsend and sister, Pamela Townsend. He is survived by his life partner, Cathy Stroud, son, Jeremy Townsend(Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM, sister, Janet Jones, mother, Wilma Townsend, grandchildren; Brandon Townsend (Rory), Veronica (Anthony), Danielle (Johnny Ray), and Justus, Earl Green and Michelle Reed; great grandchildren; Chelsea Townsend, Garrett Townsend, Zaylie, Ziylah and Marianna.

Freddie started playing the drums at a very young age. He won 2nd place playing his drums in a national competition when he was 10 years old. Freddie graduated from Campus High School with the class of 1971.  Freddie was an accomplished musician. He spent many years performing around the country with the Ark Valley Boys, other  Country music artists and Dove award winners.

Freddie worked as a painter at Cessna Aircraft. He later became Owner/Operator of Ark Valley Aircraft Refinish Shop. Freddie took flying lessons with an instructor at the Wellington Airport. He achieved his Private Pilot license and later became certified to fly twin engine airplanes.

Freddie put his culinary skills to use and became Owner/Operator of the Grandstand restaurant in Haysville Kansas. His restaurant was located in the formerly well-known  Mr. Swiss. Freddie enjoyed the time he spent with friends who frequented his restaurant and turning new customers into new friends. Freddie was a member of the Haysville Fall Festival committee for several years. He was instrumental in signing contracts with Carrie Underwood, Dottie West, Juice Newton, Fox Brothers and many others who performed at the festivals.Freddie was a member and Past Master twice at Haysville Masonic Lodge #112. He was a former member and past Master at North Star Lodge #168. Freddie enjoyed volunteering at Old Cowtown Historical Museum. He was known as "Uncle Goober" in the Renegade Gun Club. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Old Cowtown and Watson Park for many years.  Freddie enjoyed going camping and traveling. He was a "people person" and loved spending time with his loved ones.

Memorial service to be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at West Haysville Baptist Church.
