Gene Lee Dunker, 83, of Augusta, Kansas died Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
He was born on New Years Day, January 1, 1942 in Otis, Colorado, the son of Herman Henry Fredrick and Alvina Anna Kate Gemaehlich Dunker. The family lived on a farm North of Otis and Gene attended school in Otis.
He served in the U. S. Air Force from which he retired as a Major in May 1986. Being part of S.A.C., Gene was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base at the time of his retirement.
He married Linda Mae Hardesty Saranko on May 16, 1986 in Wichita. Gene was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking.
He had degrees in Math and Physics, and received his Master's Degree in Management from the University of Nebraska. After retiring from the military Gene went to work at The Boeing Company and Spirit Aerospace and retired in November 2013 as a Quality Auditor.
Survivors include his wife Linda of the home in Augusta; sons Craig Dunker of Independence, Missouri and Scott Dunker and wife Catherine of Creighton, Missouri, along with their twin daughters Abigail Dunker and Sarah Dunker; and his brother Dale Dunker of Hudson, Colorado.
Gene is also survived by Linda's daughter, Stephanie Cummings, husband Bryan and son Tyler Call. Tyler had a special bond with his Grandpa Gene. Tyler was Gene's pride and joy and had a positive impact on his life.
Memorial graveside services will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas ond Friday, December 5, 2025 at 12:00 noon.
