George B. Johnson Sr., 87, passed away on February 22, 2026 in Wichita, KS, with his wife and grandson Dominick by his side. He was born on January 23, 1939 in Washington, D.C. to John A. Johnson and Vivian Ewart. He was raised by his special dad Stephan Ewart since he was 6 months old.

George was a man of quite significance . He made history as the first Black police officer hired by the Spring Valley Police Dept., Spring Valley, NY. For 25 years he wore his badge with immense pride and earned respect of the community he protected. He was a man who stood tall, both in his uniform and his character.  He worked with pride for 25 years, with the Spring Valley Police Department in Spring Valley, New York. George was very proud of the work he did and was respected.  George lived a life defined by service, strength, and a love for simple things. George was quite simply a good man. He was respected by his colleagues and adored by his wife and family he loved his horses Joe, Sundance and their 3 goats. He enjoyed watching old western shows and movies, and "Let's Make a Deal" TV show.

George joins those preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bobby, LeRoy, Junior, Bernard, Steve, and Ronnie, sisters, Vivian and Marlene.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne, son, George Johnson Jr., daughter, Bonnie Taylor, stepson Michael J Luper, stepdaughter Krista Cornetta, sisters Ellen and Diane and grandchildren who he raised with the same love and devotion as his own children, Dominick and Breanna, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a good man and will be missed by many.
