Gladys Marie Stewart, 93, of Wichita, died Monday, April 7, 2025 at Reeds Cove Health and Rehab Center in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on October 30, 1931 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Agnes Ficek Barta. Gladys was raised and graduated from high school in Dickinson.

She moved to Anaheim, California in 1961 where she was a Supervisor on an assembly line for 12 years. Gladys moved to Springfield, Missouri in the 1970's where she met Melford Stewart. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1983. They later moved to California, which is where Milford died. Gladys lived in Henderson, Nevada for a few years before moving to Wichita in 2021.

Gladys loved to play bingo and would sometime even walk to the bingo hall. Through the years she also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and bowling.

Survivors include her daughter Donna Stewart of Wichita; son Larry Ridl of Wellington, Ks.; sisters Francis Schmidt and Jean Wanner both of Dickinson, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; husband Melford; brother Donovan Barta; and sister Evelyn.

Private family inurnment will take place in Saint Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson, N.D.
