Gloria Lauretta Beamgard Martin, 93, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at her home in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born March 4, 1931 in Bingham, Nebraska, the only child of Laura Olive Leach and Earl Delano Beamgard. Gloria grew up in Scott County, Kansas, the family moved to Newton, Kansas when she was in Junior High School. Gloria graduated from Newton High School with the Class of 1949.  She attended Bethel College in North Newton and became a Registered Nurse.

In 1953, Gloria met Bob Martin and on December 10, 1954 she and Bob were married in Newton. They had two children, Laura and Bob. In 1972 the family moved to Wichita where she remained until her death.

Gloria was a kind, loving and compassionate woman. She had many interests, but her family and her God were most important to her. She was a lifelong member of various Disciples of Christ Churches, first in Scott City, Kansas, First Christian Church in Newton, and Hillside Christian Church in Wichita. Gloria was always active in her churches in various capacities.

Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her great pleasure and were considered huge blessings in her life.

Gloria's profession was so important to her. As a Registered Nurse she worked as a Surgical Nurse in Newton and later at Wesley Hospital in Wichita for Wichita Surgical Group where she became a Surgical Perfusionist.

Gloria had a kind word for everyone and was always a good listener. You could count on her when she gave you her word.

We will miss her greatly but we know that her spirit will continue on in those lives she touched.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Olive and Earl Beamgard and  her husband Bob Martin of almost 62 years.

She is survived by her children Laura Richardson and Robert (Bob) Martin and his wife Patti jon Goff; grandchildren Clare Zabokrtsky and husband Justin, Jeff Martin, Audrey Bryan and husband Matthew; great grandchildren Olivia Manganiello, Letty and Cannon Bryan, Jaron and Alisa Zabokrtsky.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 25th at the Hillside Christian Church, 8330 East Douglas, Wichita, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Hillside Christian Church in Wichita or the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

The services have been entrusted to Affordable Cremations Plus in Wichita, Kansas.
