Guadalupe Sonora Otero, 82, passed away on July 18, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on June 20, 1943, in Holcomb, Kansas, Guadalupe lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a spirited sense of humor that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A proud veteran, Guadalupe served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enlisted on March 19, 1970, and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1971. His time in the military reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment to serving others.

Guadalupe was a self-employed man known for his tireless work ethic. Whether it was through his career or his many personal projects, he approached every task with determination and pride.

He had a passion for motorcycles and took great joy in riding—especially during trips to Sturgis that became cherished memories. Fishing and boon docking were among his favorite pastimes.

Family was at the heart of Guadalupe's world. He is survived by his beloved wife Alvina Reyes-Otero; children Carl (Mary) Otero, Dennis (Katt) Otero, and Trish (Tom) Phillips; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. His loyal puppy Amor Otero also held a special place in his heart.

Guadalupe shared close bonds with his siblings Tony Otero; Mary (Dee) Otero; Raul (Gloria) Otero; Vincent (Jeff) Otero; and Gina Crow. He now joins in rest his parents Epimenio and Soledad Otero and siblings Stella Hernandez, Ralph Otero, Daniel Otero, Gabe Otero, Jesse Otero, and Alice Breeding.

Known affectionately as a jokester within the family circle, Guadalupe had an unmatched talent for teasing those he loved most—often giving them nicknames that stuck for life. His grandchildren will fondly remember him saying "It's just pocket change" whenever they asked for something—a phrase that captured both his humor and generosity.
