Harvey Ray Johnson was born in Eunice, Louisiana. A proud Cajun, Vietnam veteran Combat MP, talented artist, and hardworking electrician, Harvey traveled throughout the country working in refineries. His journey eventually brought him to El Dorado, Kansas, where he met the love of his life, Kitty Johnson (Garcia). Harvey often said that meeting her had made him a better man, and together they cherished traveling, family gatherings, and time at the lake.

Harvey loved his family, his beloved pets, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks, playing poker, sketching and painting, and sharing a good drink and a laugh. Known for his quick wit, Cajun humor, and endless supply of jokes, Harvey never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His faith in God remained close to his heart, and he greatly enjoyed dressing up and looking his best for church.

Those left to cherish Harvey’s memory include his beloved wife, Kitty Johnson (Garcia); his grandchildren, Austin, Amberly, Alijah, and Ayden; his five great-grandchildren and one soon to arrive; and his siblings, Dudley Newton Johnson, Judy Fadith Hoyle, and Gerri Dean Bundick.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Loring Dudley Johnson, born in Chicot, Louisiana, and Garland Wray Johnson (Sanders), born in Eunice, Louisiana; his beloved daughter, Michelle Lee Conner (Johnson); and two precious little great-grandchildren who passed away at birth.

Harvey was truly one of a kind. His humor, generous heart, and larger-than-life personality will live on in the stories shared and memories treasured by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
