James Francis Comley, known to all who loved him as Jim, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. He was 70 years old.

Jim was born on November 26, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Henry Lassen Comley and Mary Frances Comley. He grew up in the College Hill neighborhood and attended Wichita Southeast High School. For many years, Jim made his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he embraced the wide-open landscapes of the Southwest, before eventually returning to Wichita.

Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and was a passionate Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan. Though dementia gradually dimmed his memory in his final years, it could never dim that ornery smile that those who knew him will carry in their hearts forever.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. Comley and Mary F. Comley; his brothers, Charles A. Comley and William H. Comley; and his nephews, Jesse A. Comley and Jeremiah W. Comley.

He is survived by his sons, James Zachary Comley and Henry Lassen Comley; his siblings, Teresa L. Henry, Joseph A. Comley (Brenda), and Mary C. Comley (Teresa); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Stratford Home Plus, who became family to Jim in his final years. Their love and compassionate care brought comfort and dignity to his life, and the family is forever grateful.

No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Jim's memory.
