Jan Lynn Turner, a dedicated father, veteran, and community servant, passed away February 9, 2026. Originally from Abilene, Kansas, Jan lived a life defined by hard work, service to his country, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

​A Life of Service and Hard Work

​Jan's career began in high school, working summer months at the Navarre Coop. Following his early start in the workforce, he stepped up to serve his country by joining the National Guard, an accomplishment he held in high regard throughout his life.

​A man of many trades, Jan spent the majority of his professional life in construction. In his later working years, he contributed his efforts to the Geneseo hog farm before his well-earned retirement.

​Commitment to Community

​Jan's dedication extended far beyond his workplace. He was a deeply involved citizen of Geneseo, Kansas, where he served on the City Council and protected his neighbors as a volunteer firefighter. His presence in the community was marked by a quiet reliability and a willingness to help whenever called upon.

​Family and Legacy

​Above all his professional and civic achievements, Jan's proudest accomplishment was "raising his girls right." As a single father, he raised four daughters with strength and devotion. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in watching his legacy grow.

​Jan was preceded in death by his father Theodore Turner; mother, Marleana Turner; sister, Marie Thompson; and son-in-law, Christopher Beever

​He is survived by his four daughters: Michelle (James) Ores, Jenny Littlejohn, Kristina Beever, and DieDra Needham. He also leaves behind his brothers Jack, Jim, Jay;  sisters Lena, Cindy Vicky; along with his grandkids Gabrielle ( John), Chance, Ryan, Gunner, Cassandra, Jasmine, Alexis, Tre', Jennifer, Blake , Tanner; great grandkids Dawson, Ayden, Wrenley; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

​A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 21 at the Navarre School House with a luncheon to follow.
