Jane Rae "Janie" (Kirk) Webb, died expectedly at 3:45 AM on Friday morning, March 6, 2026 at age 88 while under hospice care in the home of her daughter, Jennifer and her husband Joe Zollinger. She was a country girl from Weston, MO who met her future husband, Samuel C. Webb from KC, while they were students at MU (they were married 66 years). Together, they gave birth to four children: Bronson (in St. Louis, MO), Jennifer and Mark (In Lawrence, KS) and Holly (in Wichita, KS where the parents occupied the same house in College Hill Community for 50 years before they downsized to Via Christi Village Georgetown retirement community after Sam retired Emeritus from WSU after 32 ½ years of teaching/researching/writing economics). Janie's instinctive nurturing was shared cheerfully with her husband, Sam, children (and their spouses Carolyn, Joe and Lisa), grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, Katie, Daniel, Jessica (and spouse Clayton), Jacob (Jordan), Ian, Isabella, and great grandchildren: Zane, Selah, and Ahava.

"God thought we needed a little sunshine so he loaned her to us for a while." We, and others who knew her, miss her so.

Her other worldly accomplishments included her graduation from Christian College in Columbia, MO, earned a BS in music education from MU, taught children's choir at Missouri Methodist Church in Columbia, MO, nurtured four children to succeed in life, sang in the choirs of East Height's United Methodist Church, Wichita Bible Church and Central Christian Church. She served as a cancer survivor for Victory in the Valley and as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She volunteered at St. Francis Cancer Center, Wesley Hospital and Union Rescue Mission.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church in Wichita, Ks.
