Obituary

John Leonard Marshall, 92, died Thursday (June 22, 2023) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center of Ascension Via Christi Medical Center- St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

He was born on October 19, 1930 in Oil Hill, Kansas, the son of C.B. and Thelma Tiller Marshall. John was raised in the Moline, Kansas area. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 376th Airborne Division during the Korean War.

He moved to Wichita and was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union #441 for 69 years.

After retiring John took up playing golf and was an avid golfer even up to his last days. He made a Hole-In-One at Echo Hills Golf Course on May 25, 2007.

John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dayne and Clarence; and sisters Melba Courtney and Maxine Elsea.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews including his nephew Steve Claiborne; great nephew Derek Brown; great nieces Jodi (Jeff) Heater and Jill (Kevin) Potier.

A Celebration of Life along with a brunch will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday (July 28, 2023) in the Club House of Auburn Hills Golf Course, 443 S. 135th Street, West in Wichita.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be send to the Wichita Junior Golf Foundation.
