Johnny Davenport

Johnny Lee Davenport, 70, ended his labor on Monday, September 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and family at his home in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on November 12, 1955 in Helena, Arkansas, the son of Herbert and Verbena Tucker Davenport. The family lived in Marvell, Arkansas until moving to Wichita in the early 1960’s. Johnny graduated from Wichita South High School.

He married Virginia Ruth Nobles on June 4, 1994 in Wichita. They were members of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’ Witness.

Johnny loved to fish and enjoyed singing. He worked at Cessna Aircraft for 10 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Virginia Davenport of the home; children Yolanda Davenport, Johnique Davenport, Yulanda Hicks, James Coleman, Jr., Myron Coleman, Rodney Nobles; brothers David Davenport and wife Carol, Edward Davenport, Byron Davenport and wife Bronteau; sisters Mona Lisa Davenport Stewart, Vanessa Davenport Whitfield and husband Charles; Toni Davenport; along with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends that loved him dearly.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Fatisha Davenport, Tamarin Davenport; and step-son Vincent E. Coleman.

Affordable Cremations Plus of Wichita has been entrusted with Johnny’s care.
