Jon Eric
Myers
Feb 6, 1947 — Nov 29, 2025
Jon Eric Myers, age 78, of Assaria, Kansas, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on February 6, 1947, in Burbank, California to his parents John Myers and Jessie "Betty" Myers.
Jon graduated from Sylmar High School, served as a Specialist 4 (E4) in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and went on to build a long and valued career as a maintenance mechanic with Philips Lighting. He approached his work with skill, creativity, and purpose.
Jon was known for his kindness, humor, compassion, thankfulness, and steadfast commitment to the people he loved, especially his children and close friends. He lived his life with a servant's heart and a problem-solver's mind. Jon often repaired bicycles for neighborhood children, invented practical solutions for everyday problems, and assisted others whenever he could.
He loved time spent outdoors, working with his hands, tinkering on projects, and sharing stories that made others smile. Most of all, he cherished talking with and spending time with his family and friends.
Jon is survived by his daughters Diane (Jeremy) Weiland and Debbie (Jeff) Colbert; grandchildren Jessica Walters, Jacob (Becca) Colbert, and Abby Colbert; great-granddaughter Clementine Colbert; sister Karen (Cliff) Myers-Shock and brother Ron (Kathy) Myers.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Myers; father John Myers; mother Jessie "Betty" Burke; stepmother Margaret Myers; sister Kathie Grant; and brother Boyd Myers.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Services will be held on December 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley/Manhattan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Jon's memory with a donation to the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Jon will be deeply missed, warmly remembered, and forever honored for a life well-lived and hearts well-served.
