Jose Lumbreras, Sr., 50, died Monday (August 21, 2023) in Wichita.

He was born on March 26, 1973 in Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Roberto Lumbreras and Eloteria Saldana. Jose was raised and graduated from high school in Mexico.

He has lived in Wichita for the past 30 years, working at several area construction companies. Most recently he worked as a brick layer for Heart Stone Construction. He married Irene Vega in 2000 in Wichita.

Jose attended the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Wichita. A cowboy at heart, he enjoyed horses and going to horse races, having a Modelo with his friends, and watching Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Survivors include his son Jose "Perrito" Lumbreras, Jr.; daughter Aracely "Chunky Monkey" Lumbreras both of Wichita; his mother of Mexico; brother Martin Lumbreras; sisters Isabella Lumbreras and Imelda Lumbreras all of Mexico.

Jose is preceded in death by his father.

A time for family and friends to gather and remember Jose will be held on Sunday (August 27th) between Noon and 4:00 P.M. at Affordable Cremations Plus in Wichita.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday (August 29, 2023) at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Wichita, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M.

Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.
