Joseph Junior (Joe) Melichar, 87, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 surrounded by his family in Wichita, Ks. He was born on May 15, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska.

When he was a young boy his mother died and he moved to his aunt and uncle's farm near Deweese, Ne. They raised him and taught him farming skills.  His grandparents were also very involved in his upbringing.  Joe graduated from Hastings College and became a school teacher then principal.  He married Sandra Yilk and together they raised five children.  Joe became a territorial sales manager for Uniroyal Tires and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1970.  He later owned Shively Tire for ten years then worked for Shamrock Tire until retirement.  After retiring Joe enjoyed gardening and woodworking.  He was also a mighty man of God and enjoyed going to church and to the mens' prayer meetings.  Joe loved his family dearly and was always proud to let you know how many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren he had.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Melichar, son, David Melichar, Uncle, Joseph Chvala and Aunt, Christine Chvala who raised him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home, children; Michael Melichar (Kim), Cynthia Smith, Cheryl Melichar (Rhonda Scott), and Laurie Campbell (Alvie), 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Memorial services to be held on Saturday May 17th at 1:00 pm. at Evangel Assembly of God 11444 W 21st St N, Wichita, KS  67205. A separate service will be held at Reflection Ridge for the residents there who may not be able to attend the Evangel service.
