Kamea Bratton

On July 10, 2026, Kamea Bratton passed away at the age of 48 in the comfort of her family home, surrounded by loved ones—both present and those who had gone before her—as she peacefully lost her courageous battle with cancer. She fought with remarkable strength, grace, and determination until her very last breath.

Kamea lived much like The Giving Tree. She gave her whole heart to her children, her family, her friends, and to anyone fortunate enough to know her, never expecting anything in return. Her free spirit could brighten any room, making you forget your worries the moment she walked in. She worked tirelessly, always motivated by a desire to help others. She was loved by many and considered a true blessing by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She taught her children and younger siblings the importance of being considerate, hardworking, and giving—but above all, she taught them to love deeply. Whether it was the people in your life, your passions, your favorite song, the nature you were in, or the simple gift of another day, Kamea believed everything worth having was worth loving with your whole heart. She often reminded those around her to cherish life because it is the only one we have, and it passes more quickly than we realize.

Her golden heart lives on through her six children: Jeniveve Treder, Tiffany Vega, Andrew Bratton, Kody Kneese, Dylan Burton, and Samantha Burton; her two beloved grandchildren, Lane and Travis Kneese; and her four siblings, Krecenta Clark, Clint Rogers, Kelsey Bratton, and Allison Derryberry.

Born on May 5, 1978, in Eureka, Kansas, to Karla Bryant (Sandy) and Andrew Bratton, Kamea spent her childhood in the community she always considered home. Kamea later ventured south to Texas to raise her children before eventually returning home, bringing with her the warmth, resilience, and kindness that defined her. There, she continued caring for her family, her friends, and anyone who needed a helping hand.

Motherhood was never just a chapter of Kamea's life, it was who she was. Her devotion to her children never faded as they became adults, and she found great joy in helping other parents along the way. She took pride in being able to out ‘kid’ even the busiest little ones, often joking that she could get any child sleepy for a nap.

Kamea's love, laughter, generosity, and beautiful free spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. And when life feels especially heavy, may you find comfort in feeling her smile deep within your heart, a gentle reminder that love like hers never truly stops giving.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kamea's life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Hotel.
