Obituary

Karen Lynn (McMillon) Shoate, Passed away on November 5th, 2025, at Loving Hearts Homes Plus and under the care of Providence Hospice. Karen was preceded in death by her Grandparents and her parents Everett an Betty (Cunningham) McMillian, her husband of 20 years Michael Shoate, of Wichita Ks, and her daughter Paula Michelle (Shoate) Myer of McPherson Ks, her sister, Beverly Mitchell of Topeka Ks.

She is survived by her son Paul Michael and wife Lillie Shoate of Leon Ks. Grandchildren, David and Heather Swan of Wichita, and Amber Shoate of Wellington KS. Great Grandchildren, Lillian, Madison, Jackson, and Lucas Swan all of Wichita, Brice, Nevaeh, and Grace Snodgrass all of Park City.

Her brother, Kevin McMillian and Johanna Kanavy, Sister, Barbara Whitney of Wichita Ks, Nieces, Jessica Nicols, Debbie Lamb-Gamble, Nellie McMillian of Wichita, Elizabeth Hardcastle of Kingman Ks. Patty Brown and Michelle Shelby Rouch of Topeka Ks, and many Great nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Karen and Bulldoggie.


She is also survived by her partner of 20 years Sharon (Sherri) Peters and their 8 furbabies. Karen was a respected member of Wichita' Gay Community and often preformed Drag as Rex Elder, she loved all of her extended family from far and near and her an Sherri loved to go see the drag kids compete in the different states and for USofAMI Pagents.

Her service is scheduled for December 6th at 2 P.M. at Table of Hope ICT Church (formerly know n as First Metropolitan Community Church of Wichita Ks.) Pastor Jackie Carter presiding.
