Kay
Smith
Oct 20, 1947 — May 18, 2026
Kay Smith, 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026. Born on October 20, 1947, in Clay Center, Kansas, she was the beloved daughter of Harvey and Dorothy Strom.
Kay dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, a profession she carried out with deep compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She took immense pride in the comfort and care she provided to her patients throughout her career.
At the heart of Kay's life was her family. She was the center of countless cherished memories, bringing warmth, steadiness, and love to everyone around her. She especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Kay found happiness in life's simple pleasures, tending to her flowers and garden, feeding wildlife in her backyard, and enjoying a good cup of coffee at any hour of the day. She also loved traveling with her sweetheart, Loyde Keith, especially trips to the ocean where they embraced every adventure, discovered hidden restaurants, and never rushed through the moments they shared together. Kay had a remarkable way of slowing down and appreciating the beauty in everyday life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Tiers.
Kay is lovingly survived by her sons, Phillip Smith, James Smith (Rachel), and Michael Smith (Brandi); her brother, Steve Strom; her sisters, Sally Strom and Beth Adams; her six grandchildren, Lane, Mason, Cassidy, Savannah, Tate, and Lauren; and her five great-grandchildren, Leon, Lucca, Reighn, Maverick, and Laken and her loving companion, Loyde Keith.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
