Lance Wayne Garland, 71, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2025.

Lance was born on May 24, 1954, to Albert and Maxine (Knox) Garland, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Malcolm and Paulette. He attended St. John's Catholic School and was a graduate of El Dorado High School, Class of 1973. Later, in 1985, Lance began a life with Cyle Moon, and they shared 15 meaningful years together, raising two children, Paden and Elle. Though life took them on separate paths, he loved her deeply, and they remained lifelong friends.

Lance was deeply devoted to his family and found his greatest joy in the time spent with those he loved. He is survived by his partner, Nancy Firkins; his children, Paden Garland (wife Meredith) and Elle Moon-Garland; and his grandchildren, Kenley, Kash, Griffin, and Grace, who were a constant source of pride and happiness in his life.

A hardworking and dependable man, Lance spent many years as a pipeline truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication. He will be remembered for his steady presence, gentle humor, and the love he showed in simple, consistent ways.

Beyond his family, Lance valued his friendships, and those who knew him will remember the strength of his loyalty and the devotion he brought to those he cared about.

Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service was arranged. A celebration of Lance's life will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Senior Center.

Paden and Elle are asking, from the heart, for those who loved him to be present at this event. It would mean more than words can express for people to come, stand up, and share, whether it is laughter, tears, or something left unsaid. These stories, spoken aloud, help carry his memory forward and offer comfort in a way that silence cannot. In sharing him with one another, we honor the man he was, the love he gave, and the extraordinary impact he leaves on everyone who knew him.
