Lesia Ann Dick, 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Wichita, Kansas, on Monday, May 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unshakable strength.

Born on April 3, 1962, in Burlington, Kansas, Lesia was the daughter of Carl Shephard and Virginia Mae McCoy Shephard King. She was the kind of woman who made everyone feel welcome—quick with a joke, faster with a hug, and always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.

On May 19, 1990, she married her soulmate, Charles "Charlie" Dick, and for 35 years, their marriage was filled with deep love, shared stories, and a lot of laughter.

Lesia was many things—a daughter, a sister, a friend—but her proudest titles were Mom and Nana. She adopted and raised her daughter, Deidre, with unwavering love, fierce protection, and more personality than most could handle. Becoming "Nana" brought her more joy than words can say. Her granddaughters, Maddisyn, Maisie, and Katie were her whole heart—and they knew it.

Lesia also lovingly adopted her son Umesh Patel, his wife Aarzu Patel, and their children—Moksh, Bilva, and Prahast—whom she adored as her own. Her love for all her children and grandchildren was fierce and unconditional.

A self-proclaimed bargain queen, Lesia could sniff out a deal from a mile away. Whether she was hunting sales, clipping coupons, or bragging about her $40 jackpot at the gas station Keno machine, she did it with a gleam in her eye and a laugh that filled the room. She loved her cats, collected porcelain and antiques with pride, and could turn a simple holiday into a full-on event—especially the Fourth of July, which she celebrated with unmatched enthusiasm, amazing food, and fireworks both literal and emotional.

Lesia had a soft spot for sewing, could talk on the phone for hours, and never missed a rerun of Walker, Texas Ranger—usually with a cup of ice and a Dr. Pepper in hand. She knew every home remedy you could need, made the best zucchini cake, and somehow, no one's food ever tasted quite as good as Nana's. She carried an entire survival kit in her purse at all times—whether you needed a piece of gum or wound care. She would never turn down a good game of bingo or a shopping trip.

But above all, she loved her people. If she loved you, she would do anything for you—no questions asked. Her love was loud, loyal, and limitless. Her selfless, acts of kindness will be cherished.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Dick; her daughter, Deidre Swift-Varah, and husband Jake Varah, both of Wichita; her granddaughters, Maddisyn Varah, Maisie Varah, and Katie Mayfield; and her brother, Scott King of Mulvane, along with his children, Melissa and Austin King.

Lesia is also survived by her in-laws: Ronald W. Dick and his son Dalton Dick; Raymond J. Dick; Maureen Dick and her daughter Christina (Jerrod Poulter); Doug Dick and his daughter Lydia; and Karen Moyer (preceded in death by her husband, Lonny).

She leaves behind many dearly loved nieces and nephews, including Jackie Thompson and her husband Devan and their children, Coale and Emily; Rebecca Lynch and her husband Donald and their daughters, Tilly, Betsy, and Rosie; and Sean Moyer.

She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and cherished friends who became family—each of whom she loved in her own bold and beautiful way.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Renata Sueann Bounds; her parents; her brother, Mark Shephard; and her sisters, Marcia Shephard-Smith and Beverly Walthall.

A Celebration of Life is being planned to honor the vibrant, unforgettable woman Lesia was—and the love she gave so freely.
