Loren D Hinkle, 95, known as "Bud" passed away peacefully October 21, 2024 at Memorial Hospital, Abilene, KS. Bud was born in 1929 to Loren W and Emily (Ramsey) Hinkle in Herington, KS. He was the oldest of 9 children. He graduated from Hope High School. He married Gertrude Papenhaus in Feb 1955 (69 years), she survives.

Bud was a minor league baseball player, farmer, and then he found his gift of construction. He could build or fix anything. He also mentored others in his skills, including family members. He was a true and respected craftsman in many ways. He loved his K-State Wildcats. In his retirement he added growing flowers to his list of gifts. Bud was a gracious and humble man. Family was important to Bud. He was a loving father to Carmen Hinkle Thrower, Julie (Ben) Freeman, and Tim (Kari) Hinkle. Then came 4 grandkids that gave him the name "Papa Bud", Jamie Freeman, Ross Freeman , Rowe (Anna) Hinkle, and Mason (Madi)Hinkle, 5 great grandkids,Lauren and Alex Bell,
Layne and Josey Freeman, and Grey Hinkle. He made every effort to get to all the family events and support his family (sporting events, music concerts, and cattle shows). He is also survived by siblings William Hinkle,Max (Ardith) Hinkle, Marilyn Holcomb, Marge Geisert,
Marge Hinkle (sister in law), and Sherry Hinkle (sister in law)and many nieces and nephews. We want to express our appreciation to the
