Loretta Ruth Bouche, 85, longtime Wichita resident, died on July 29, 2026 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on October 22, 1940 in Caney, Kansas, the daughter of Amos Lee Adams and Edna Allene Adams. The family moved to Wichita when Loretta was an infant where she was raised and graduated from Wichita East High School. She later received a Bachelor Degree from Friends University and Masters Degree from Wichita State University.
Loretta was a teacher for many years, moving from teaching GIs getting their GEDs and teaching in private schools, to teaching for Wichita USD 259 for the majority of her career. She taught several years at Horace Mann Elementary and Stanley Elementary. She loved teaching, but her favorite teaching job was homeschooling her grandsons after she had retired.
The church was very important to Loretta. She was raised at Sunnyside Baptist Church and more recently had been a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Bentley, Kansas.
She enjoyed spending time with family, her weekly meetings with her longtime friends in “The Breakfast Club," playing piano, studying the Bible, and listening to her kids and grandkids sing.
She married Roland Bouche on December 18, 1965 in Wichita. He died on October 30, 1998. Loretta is also preceded in death by her parents; brother Samuel (Sammy) Frank Adams; sister Judith Shepherd; and great granddaughter Trinity Hope Bouche.
Survivors include her son Layne Bouche of Vancouver, Washington; daughters Linae Bouche of Wichita, Ks, Lisa Groth and husband Chris of Sedgwick, Ks.; sisters Geneva Hall of Shell Knob, Mo., Patricia Rohling of Valley Center, Ks.; along with her grandchildren Michael Bouche and wife Shawna, Zachary Kerns, Mariah Simison and husband Joe, Chase Groth and wife Emma, Tie Groth, Rebecca Bouche, Anabella Bouche; and great grandchildren Hope Bouche, Dakota Bouche, and Mariah Kerns.
Memorial services will be held at the Bethany Baptist Church, 20705 W. 117th St. North, Bentley, KS 67016 on Tuesday, August 11 at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Bethany Baptist Church, Box 286, Bentley, KS 67016
Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.
