Celebrating the Life of Lucia Elina Rene Mondragon Nielsen

Lucia Elina Rene Mondragon Nielsen, 46, of Wichita, Kansas, left this world on September 10, 2025, and though our hearts ache, we find comfort knowing she is at peace. Born on September 18, 1978, to Joe Mondragon and Helen Armstrong, Lucia was a bright light whose presence was impossible to ignore.

Lucia had a way of making life feel lighter. She was a true social butterfly who could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like family. With her radiant smile, quick wit, and playful personality, she brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. Rainy days reminded her to slow down and soak in the little things, and karaoke nights were her chance to let her joy pour out in song.

But above all else, Lucia's proudest role was being a mother and grandmother. Her children—Katre, Xuvier, Gaven, and Jonathan—were her heart, and her grandchildren—Meilani, Ezekiel, and Lai'ana—were her pride and joy. She poured her love into them endlessly, and that love will continue to carry them forward.

Lucia is preceded in death by her infant brother, Esquiel Mondragon, and is survived by her parents, Joe Mondragon and Helen Armstrong, who will always hold her close in spirit.

Though she is no longer with us, Lucia's laughter echoes in our memories, her love lingers in our hearts, and her light will never dim. To know her was to feel joy, and to love her was a blessing beyond measure.

A celebration of her life will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
