Margaret Jane Castello was born April 22nd, 1947 in Iola, Kansas to Helen Hower and Roy Jenkins. Margaret, better known as "Janie", grew up in Cherryvale Kansas where she attended elementary and middle school and graduated high school in 1965. Janie received her Associates in Applied Science from Independence Community College in 1967.

Janie lived in Kansas while raising her children Brent, Diane, Lisa, and Amanda. On Oct 9th 2003 Janie married her latest husband Sonny Castello in Hawaii. They resided in California until the passing of her husband in 2022. At that time Janie moved back home to be with her children where she resided in Independence, Ks. Janie loved her family. She was the type of woman to put other people's needs before her own. You could always catch her watching a true crime movie or playing crossword puzzles at home.

On January 17th 2025 Janie passed away in her daughter Amanda's home after fighting cancer. She passed peacefully with family at her bedside.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband Sonny Castello, parents Helen and Roy, and her granddaughter Kimberly Meeks.

Survivors are her four children, son Brent, oldest daughter Diane and husband Sib Masters, middle daughter Lisa Brooks, and youngest daughter Amanda and husband Kevin Shamblin. She had 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Her siblings were Virgina Housel, Barbara Sanders, Debbie Hamiltion, and Linda Ellison.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Harry Hines Hospice and the great care they provided to Janie while on hospice.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."
