Margie
James
Apr 26, 1933 — Nov 24, 2024
Margie James ("The MJ," as she liked to call herself), died peacefully on November 24, 2024 at the age of 91, with her daughter, granddaughter and the loving staff of Homestead of Halstead by her side.
Margie was born in Haviland, Kansas, on April 26, 1933. Her early years were spent on the family homestead. During her junior high years, her family moved to Wichita, but she went back to Haviland to finish her high school education at what is now known as Barkley College.
Believing the third time is the charm, she married her "keeper", Charles "Chuck" James in 1977. For 24 years he treated her as his queen until his passing in 2001. Together they participated in many service and social activities within Central Community Church and their Sunday School class. They both enjoyed a passion for traveling, flying, tennis, and square dancing.
Margie was proud to be a CASA volunteer working as an advocate for neglected and abused children, and she found simple pleasures in walking, painting, reading, ice cream and a good cup of coffee.
Margie leaves behind a daughter Kaye (Bill) Willis, son-in-law Mark Bulington, sisters Ramona Durm, and Joyce Davis, granddaughters Courtney (Lee) Newsom, Randilynn Wacker, grandsons Ryan (Autumn) Willis, Colton (Kate) Brock, five great-grandchildren and two beloved nieces Debbie Woolridge and Victoria Durm. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James, her daughter Tina Bulington, sister Bonnie Blaikie, and brother Kenneth Davis.
