Marilyn (Geschwentner) Bennett, 71, of La Crosse, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on March 10, 1953, in Ellis, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence D. and Myrtle S. (Bickel) Geschwentner. Marilyn was raised in the Ellis area and graduated from Ellis High School.

Not long after graduating from high school she moved to Colorado and married Raymond Bennett in September 1974. They made their home in Colorado, where they raised their two children.  Raymond passed on March 24, 2014, and Marilyn moved to Alaska in May 2019 with her son for a short time before returning to Colorado, Nebraska, and finally La Crosse, Kansas, in 2023.

Marilyn loved music and enjoyed knitting, playing bingo with friends, and attending weekly mass.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Jessica Kaufmann of Lakewood, Colorado; brother Tony Geschwentner and wife Deb of Victoria, Kansas; sister Judy Bieker and husband Rick of Salina, Kansas; sister Debi Wherry and husband Kyle of La Crosse, Kansas; sister Donna Degenhardt and husband Ray of San Antonio, Texas; and two grandsons Tony Kaufmann of Portland, Oregon, Braeden Bennett of Anchorage, Alaska and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her twin sister Carolyn, parents, husband, and son Justin Bennett.

A private family internment will be scheduled at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis, Kansas.

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, of Wichita, Kansas.
