Marilyn Hostetler

Marilyn Hostetler (Seidel) passed into eternity with Christ at sunrise on July 11, 2026.

Marilyn was born to Arline Pittman Loomis and Wesley Loomis in Perryton, Texas, on February 28, 1959. She was the older sister of David and Danny Loomis. Her dad worked for Halliburton, and the family moved nearly every year during her childhood, allowing Marilyn to make friends far and wide.

Marilyn moved to Pratt, Kansas halfway through her senior year and met Rodney Seidel, whom she married on September 15, 1978. Marilyn loved music and was an amazing gardener, crafter, homemaker, mother, and friend. She loved the Lord and spent much of her life pointing others to Him. She was active in her church community wherever life took her, teaching Sunday school, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. She was married to Rodney Seidel for 32 years and lived out at Seidel's where they built a home and raised 5 kids.

While raising her children, Marilyn attended Pratt Community College, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree. She worked as a medical transcriptionist and secretary before beginning her career as a paraprofessional at Southwest Elementary School.

On June 25, 2011, she married Wes Hostetler, and moved to Bel Aire, Kansas. There, she worked at Greenwich schools before retiring. She was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in her early 50s. Her final season of life was spent with her husband, Wes, traveling to her grandchildren's activities and visiting with her children. She spent countless hours praying for her children, family, friends, and many others that crossed her path. Her children's lives are a testament to the fruit of those prayers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Loomis; her stepfather, Cecil Britton; her daughter, Christa Seidel; her father-in-law, Ralph Seidel; her mother-in-law, Alma Hostetler; and her brothers-in-law, Kevin Shinkle and Steve Freund.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Wes Hostetler; her mother, Arline Britton; her brothers, David (& Jeanie) Loomis and Danny (& Susan) Loomis; her children, Julie (& Sonny) O'Hair, Amy (& Jason) Frazier, Michael Seidel, Alyssa (& Riley) Hughes, Wesley (& Jami) Seidel, and Brady (& Veronica) Seidel; her stepchildren, Niki (& Brian) Gehring, Priscilla (& Mike) Allred, Emalee (& Mick) McGuire, Nate Hostetler, and Sara Hostetler; her 27 grandchildren; her one great-grandchild; and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands in Wichita, Kansas. Or, when you notice someone who needs a helping hand, a blessing, or simply a smile, honor Marilyn by offering one.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church Cemetery in Harper, Kansas.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at Reach Church in Pratt, Kansas, on August 8 at 10:00 a.m., with a meal and fellowship to follow. The family would greatly appreciate any written memories or photos to be shared with them at that time.
