Mary Juanita Thomas, 90, of Wichita, died Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Unit of Ascension Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on September 28, 1935 in Norman, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Rosa Pearl Pfiefer Burleson. Mary was raised in Dent County, Missouri.

She married Arthur Earl Thomas on April 22, 1961 in Salem, Missouri. They later moved to Brownwood, Texas where they lived before moving to Wichita. Mary and Arthur also lived in Griffin and Macon, Georgia before returning to Wichita in 2010. He died on October 29, 2011.

Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her son Allen Roy Thomas of Brownwood, Texas; daughter Holly Harris of Wichita; grandchildren Alicia Maddox, Sheena Wilson, Tanya Coffey, Daniel Casey, Robin Burbach, Bryan Casey, Timothy Casey; and 16 great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Anita Coffey; and sisters Charlene Pierce and Nancy Burleson.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 4th, at the Reliance Community Church, 11910 W Pawnee St, Wichita, KS 67215

Mary will be interred with her husband at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.
